A
scent long forgotten
A
scent long forgotten
Wafted
into my room today
And
all the memories
came rushing back
Of
such scents forgotten
Dreams
misbegotten
And
pleasures tasted
Of
bliss, of joy
Of
the moments wasted
A
scent long forgotten
Made
me look back at life
With
some melancholy
And
some sadness
And
I could not recall
What
made us fall
Out
And
at that moment I missed you
And
longed to kiss you
And
speak my heart to you
Of
all that has changed
And
all that has remained the same
I
am still the same
And
so too are you I suppose
And
that realization comes like a slap in the face
Sobering
For
I still do not want to walk that path again
For
us to go down the same
Insane
I
guess we are not
We
were not meant to be
So
I take a sniff
And
I hold back a sigh
And
I walk on
Leave
your scent behind.
